Kinoshita Toukichirou (木下藤吉郎)was an ashigaru (foot soldier) who is based on the real life historical figure; who later became Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In the series, he is shown running through a battle field, and gets hits by a stray bullet. He tells Sagara Yoshiharu, who was at his side, that he must succeed him and take his place, and live out his dream of having a "country, and a castle with cute girls." He then dies of his wounds leaving Yoshiharu to succeed him. Later on, it is revealed that Hachisuka Goemon was his companion, and the two of them made a promise to each other that they would move up in the world (Kinoshita wanted to be a feudal lord and have a castle full of cute girls.)
In the manga and Light Novel, Yoshiharu and him meet after battle and talk with each other for a while. They immediately bond because they find out they both love girls as much as the other. In the anime, Kinoshita is only seen once he gets hit by a stray bullet.
