Asano is the elderly leader of the Asano clan and the greatest of the tenant samurai in Owari. He is both a mentor to Yoshiharu, having taught him to wield a spear and allowing him to live in his tenant dwellings, and also, due to him becoming Nene's older brother by Nobuna's will, his adoptive grandfather.
Appearance
He has an aged and withered appearance.
Personality
Asano comes off as senile, mistaking Inuchiyo for Nobuna, a dog, a boy, in that order when he has met her countless times. He is sharp, sharp enough to notice Nene's eavesdropping and is very easygoing overall. He also wanted to marry Nene to Yoshiharu after having just met the man, and forgetting the fact she was 8, because he was aware of his own age. As implied by his training of Yoshiharu, he remembers how to fight, even if his aged body implies he is no longer himself suited for the task.
Background
Being a samurai, it is very likely he has participated in many battles in the past, but further details are unknown.
Plot
Arrival in the Sengoku Period Arc
Inuchiyo first introduces Yoshiharu to Asano after the latter moves into the tenants, soon after Asano introduces his granddaughter Nene to them as well. When Nobukatsu arrives and starts an uproar, Asano remains inside until the situation settles down. It is noted he regularly appeared to train Yoshiharu in spearmanship after this incident.
